Finish it up

or at least get some quilting done!

That was my Sunday - very productive - I finished the quilting on this one,

aster2
binding is on, but I've decided to hand stitch it, so not quite finished yet.

I worked on my stitching for this month's Freemotion Challenge - the guest expert for August is Wendy Sheppard, who blogs at Ivory Spring.  Wendy is an amazing quilter and very prolific - I bet you've seen some of her work in your favourite quilting magazine!   Wendy's lesson for us was "Jester's Hats".  Mine are kind of  "wide open" and not as closely spaced as in the tutorial, but I still like them, although I will do some more practicing.

I used them on the last sashing I had to quilt on my row robin, which has been in the works for ABSOLUTELY ages.  I am happy to report that I finished the quilting today.  Now I just have to trim and bind it, and I can call it finished.

favourite part
still my favourite quilting on this one.
With the anticipated arrival of a new family member this week, I forgot to post about a win I had last weekend.  My LQS, The Needle & I Quilt Shop and Sewing Centre, celebrated its second anniversary with a quilt challenge.  The challenge was to draw a F8 of fabric and then use it, and other fabrics the same colour, along with 1 other fabric to create a quilted something.
My starting colour was this purple

I don't generally use purple very often, but I dug around and found a few more shades and created this
Polka Dots and Posies

of course, I had great fun quilting it!  Thank you Debbie for a fun challenge!

Happy quilting!

Your flower is just smashing. I really do like it. The row quilt as well. I'll need to hop over for the MQing tutorial. Glad you had a good weekend!

What a wonderful example of a monochromatic colour scheme. Love how you made the edges of your posie look serrated.
