Around our house, the way it works is he builds it, I finish it, so last weekend I did just that. Sanded it and applied three coats of a satin varathane finish. Oh it is so nice to not have to fight the quilt over the edge of the machine when I'm quilting!
Had to give it a test run, so have been working on the baby quilt - progress is being made!
It is actually going to take a while to adjust to not having to fight the quilt so much - my FM straight lines got a little wobbly! But oh it is fun, and much easier on my neck and shoulders.
Maybe now I'll make faster headway on my pile of WIPs, waiting to be quilted.

The table: It came together pretty quickly and easily, and fits both my Mega Quilter (shown) and my Lily 555 (both Husqvarna Viking). It is made from an Ikea table top and 4 Ikea adjustable legs, a piece of plywood (the machine shelf) and a piece of 1/4" acrylic from Lowe's that was cut to fit each machine (like I said, he's a keeper!) I've got another table top piece and just have to pickup 4 more adjustable legs and I'll have a second table that can be set to the same height to use as a "run off" when I'm working on larger projects.
Happy quilting!

Ooooh that's a nice table! Yep, definitely a keeper, that one!
What a superb job he has done, and you with the finish. Definitely one to keep.
Wow! That is an amazing table. Sewing is much easier when you have the right tools:)
Nice! I'd say both the table and DH are keepers!
That would have me making happy noises for sure. Great set up!
Lucky you to have such a handy hubby. It's a beautiful piece of furniture. I love Ikea's adjustable legs.
fabulous table...think i will get my husband going on one of those... would work for me..
What an awesome table!! And your quilting looks great!
Awesome and you will find a huge difference , I have an old kitchen table that my husband cut a hole for my machine and I don't know how I did it without it now.
I have dreamed for many years that my hubby would make something like that, but no his talents? go in other directions, like yelling at football games on tv!??
And that quilt that is on the machine looks intriguing!
Oh he is definitely a keeper. Say could he be talked in to making another one....for me of course.
Love your new set-up. Makes quilting so much easier.
It's definitely very nice! My hubby cut a hole into a cheap sewing cabinet that my machine sat on top of for years. Like you I was so relieved to be able to relax my shoulders.
What a difference it is to be comfortable.
Beautiful....so nice for you to be comfortable working....it looks great!
Lucky you! Great table. I have the insert for my Bernina, I have the hubby, but I don't have the table...been waiting.
Great table and thanks for the list of supplies for it .... maybe my DH might create one from my Ikea table!
Enjoy your new table! I have a lovely DH who made me something similar a few years ago - boy does it make quilting easier :)
Wow, such an amazing table! It must be wonderful if you are able to make such beautiful and handy things! He’s a keeper for sure!
Oh yes, that is a wonderful table - no wonder you want to keep him - and thanks for sharing the 'ingredients'!
I think I see a trip to IKEA in my future!
My first comment was: she has my table! but I have an old computer table that resembles your table, it is by far not so fancy. Works well, though, and is usually so covered in fabrics and cats that it is hardly visible anyway..... Happy quilting!
That table is amazing. I love the idea of a run off table. Mine is my ironing board:( Looking at your machine makes me sad, I just had to sell mine to help finance the purchase of my new machine. I still have my Lily though.

Does your husband have any additional tips for doing this? Is the cut edge beveled (routered)? What kind of screws or bolts did he use to attach the support and make it look so nice? I would love to do this for my machine. You two did a great job on yours.
OMG You are FMQing the straight lines!? wow. I love that table. Nice!!! : )
Thanks for linking up to TN&TN!

What a great table! Maybe you and your husband could post a DIY table-building tutorial? I use a flatbed made from insulation foam and covered with contact paper, but I'd love something a bit more elegant.
