After building some momentum on the weekend, I'm trying to keep it going this week, aiming for my twenty minutes a day.
Tonight, I worked on the quilting on this quilt, pieced on the weekend. As you can see, I'm aiming for some very dense straight line quilting over parts of the quilt, corresponding with the various coloured squares.
So far, I'm really liking it. I think this is really going to suit this scrappy improv. quilt. (I do all my straight stitching free motion as I like the flexibility it gives me of stitching in any direction without having to turn the quilt. )
Plus, I started looking through my scraps, at least the ones currently sorted by colour, as opposed to the two big bins of random chunks of fabric that are really scary to look at, with the thought of joining Leanne at She Can Quilt in making a Blended Scraps quilt - see Leanne's tutorial here. I've wanted to make one of these since I first saw Reflection. Now, what colours will I use???

Happy quilting!

I like what you are doing with the quilting and thanks for the link to Leanne's Reflection.
Great idea! I need to go through my scraps
Love the pops of colour! Enjoy making your version of Leanne's Reflection - I might have to try it myself!
Thanks for linking up to Scraptastic Tuesday!
Loving the dense quilting, you must have lots of patience! I popped over from the scraptastic Tuesday link xx
I want to do that quilt also. Time??? lol I like the crossing on the coloured square. :)
oooo, love the look of your low volume improv quilt so far, Janet!
This looks great, Janet!
I like the dense lines. I have to try doing straight lines with FMQ.
Looks like a sweet quilt. I like the bold thread color!
I love the low volume quilt and the quilting especially. I look forward to seeing your blended scarps blocks and quilt, I really love the look of that block.
Your free motion straight lines are wonderful! What a great idea! The low volume scraps really work. Love it.
FM Straight lines, amazing!
Wow, how do you keep your lines straight? I do love this quilting, though.
Vicki - The straight lines come with practice – doesn’t everything??? And using the edge of the foot as a guide. I also try and stitch as long a section as I can before re-positioning my hands – this entails using my forearms to help keep the quilt straight and smooth, but results in fewer stops and possibilities of wobbles, which I still do get!
