I don't seem to have a copy of the one I gave her, but it was the mirror image of this one, with coloured leaves and pale backgrounds:
Seeing as it was so long ago, I doubted if I had enough of the fabrics left to create anything. let alone 6 placemats, but I dug through my scrap bags, and lo and behold, I was able to piece together 6! They are scrappy, the fabrics aren't quite the same ones as used originally, but I think they should do the trick!
I had fun playing with some FMQ |
Randomly quilted some leaves here and there |
and machine applied the binding |
Also going in the mail by Monday is my Mini QT Swap - Circles and Curves was the theme for this quilt, for needles-n-notions. Just a peak, as while Tina knows its's coming from me, she hasn't seen the whole thing yet!
Happy quilting!

The placemats are great! I agree with Tia (above) - lucky Mum!
Can't wait to see the whole Mini. The pebble quilting is intriguing. Oh what a tease ;)
I love your wall hanging and placemats - the colours are great - just love it :-))))
Love the Wall hanging and the placemats. Do you recall the name of the pattern?

The placemats look so cute. As always your quilting is perfect.
Can't wait to see the other project.
Oh my, the placemats are really gorgeous! Next time you are worried about not having enough batik, will you please call me? I have tons and don't really work with them any more. Can't wait to see what you did with circles and curves!
I love your quilting!!!
The wall hanging is gorgeous and the mats are just perfect. The motif ties them together with the hanging.
Love the fall feel of the wall hanging and placemats...wonderful how the placemates have the colored leaves with a cream background, and the wall hanging is opposite. Works together great!
My oh my what lovely placemats you have! And the quilting...very creatively done!
Your quilting is always excellent and this is no exception. I love the wallhanging and placemats. Leaf motifs are one of my favourite things and I just doodled a design in my sketchbook yesterday with leaves.
I realize that your original post is a number of months old but I just did a search for leaf place mats and yours came up! Is there a pattern or an explanation of the technique anywhere? I've promised my sister some leaf design based place mats and I'd love to try some of these! Could you let me know please?
