Slow week

Didn't actually get anything finished this week.  Worked a bit more yesterday on my Winter Time mini for the Quilting Gallery swap.  Lesson learned:  While the stamp and glitter looked wonderful, and seemed to be nicely stuck on - do AFTER you've finished quilting.  I managed to knock just about all the glitter off.  Plan 2 - quilt the snowflakes with irridescent silver sliver.  They still sparkle!

I haven't quite finished the quilting yet, but here's a few shots of how its looking

My main kitchen now has no lower cabinets and no flooring.  (sorry, no pix today) Decisions to be made on new paint colour and lighting, all by this weekend.  My dining room is filled with IKEA boxes of my new cabinets.  I figure we'll be at this for months!  Poor Chico is very confused by all this.  Here is the downstairs kitchen which we will be using in the meantime.

And, this is my last week off!  Going back to work fulltime next Monday.  That means I've got to pack an awful lot into the next few days to get my swaps already to go.  I've got some postcards that still need to appear, and not just in my imagination! and a couple of donation quilts for guild.  Not to mention that growing list of UFOs on my sidebar,
'til next time,
Happy quilting!

weekly progress

somewhat slow this week - too busy getting geared up for the Olympics -
Go Canada Go!
I was in downtown Vancouver on Friday morning and there was such a buzz about!  So much fun!  Hopefully, we'll get back down a few times before everything is over and just breathe in that excitement!

I did get one finish this week
donation baby quilt
a donation baby quilt that I did get the binding finished on.

and I made a little bit of progress with my Winter Time mini quilt for the Quilting Gallery's swap.

I did some experimenting with stamping fabric paint and then adding irridescent glitter, and I'm quite happy with how the snowflakes turned out!  Just need to heat set them, applique my other snowflakes, sandwich and quilt - I'm thinking of using sliver thread in silver, but will have to do some tests first.  We'll see.
How has your week been?

First February Finish

It took a while, considering I had so little left to do on it, but the first of my little Gail Pan stitcheries is complete.  (See my earlier post here)  A February OPAM and a Christmas Projects 2010 finish!  I like it when I can double dip!

I've been pulling out fabrics for my Quilting Gallery Winter mini quilt swap.  These are what I'm thinking of, final design still a little iffy...

cool and icy enough for you?
I've also been busy working away on the Snowbound BOM from Bunny Hill, and am pleased to say that at this point, I'm ahead of the curve - yaaaayy!! (okay so we're only 1 month in, but I'll take my successes, however small!)  I decided that I would do this set in redwork, and on-point.  Here's my first block.
Snowbound block 1
(yeah, alright already, I haven't finished last year's BOM, A Tisket A Tasket, yet, but its time will come)
and I'm working away on my Bouquet BOM from Jenny of Elefantz.  Just about finished it as well, but no pictures yet, maybe tomorrow??
On the drawing board is my postcard swap for a March mailing.  Our theme this go round is a "Famous woman from our country".  I've got some ideas, no peaks yet - BUT I better get moving on it, too!  March 15 will be here before you know it!
Now to decide which of these will be What Comes Next!
Happy quilting!

Should I have??

Figgy Duff??
Nahh!
I should have been sending out resumes and looking for work, but I had this charm pack of Figgy Pudding that I got on my summer vacation, and a bit of yardage that I picked up just after Christmas on sale, and a gnawing feeling I could put them together a la Amanda Jean  and her Moda Bake Shop project - not layer cakes, but with some modification...  So of course I had to try!

Quick sketch, do the math, start cutting and sewing, and before you know it another top to add to my pile!

I promise it will be quilted before next Christmas, so I can count it as an OPAM and a Christmas Projects 2010 finish, but not today.
Happy quilting!
